Annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner

Our annual Corned Beef & Cabbage Event occurs on or about St. Patrick's Day.  This is our clubs main fund raiser for the year.  Other fund raisers are Flea Markets, Football Mania, and corporate donations.  We are always looking for additional opportunities and ways to raise needed resources.  These resources are what enable us to serve our community.  If you have any fund raising ideas we would be happy to entertain them.

Raffles and Awards

Additionally, we raffle off prizes for everyone in attendance and awards are given.  Every participant gets a special ribbon adding a special touch to the day.

Come be a part of one of these special days.

Special Athletic Challenge - SACSAC 2011 015

SAC stands for Special Athletic Challenge and is held each year in May.   The club rents a club house at the local park and invites special needs persons from two park districts to a day of competition and fun.   The event runs from 10AM - 2PM.  They play basketball followed by a hot dog lunch provided by our club and after lunch the event is floor hockey.   Sadly, the children that were involved in this activity have grown up and no longer participate so this event has been cancelled till further notice.  We had hosted this event for several years and it is missed by many of our members.

Membership in a local Lions Club is by invitation.   In most cases a prospective member is either invited to a club meeting or they express an interest to an existing member who then extends the invitation.

At the meeting the prospective member will get their first introduction to becoming a Lion.  If the meeting includes a meal it is always provided at no cost.

We hope you will take us up on this invation and vist our club.

At their first meeting the prospective member will be introduced to some new terms such as:

  • Lion Tamer

  • Tail Twister

  • Lions Foundation(s)

  • LEO Clubs

  • Zone Chairs

  • and others....

The world of Lions is big and it can be confusing to new members.  It takes time to understand how all the different parts play together to create an organization having world wide impact.

Having over 46,000 clubs and 1.35 million members make us the world's largest service club organization. We're also one of the most effective. Our members do whatever is needed to help their local communities. Everywhere we work, we make friends. With children who need eyeglasses, with seniors who don’t have enough to eat and with people we may never meet.

Lions Clubs Fact Sheet

Come be a part of the world of Lions today!

Of course no organization this size would be complete without a convention or two.  Here is where Lions get to rub elbows with other Lions and get to see that they are indeed a part of an organization much larger than their own club.

There are lots of opportunity to serve locally, state wide and internationally if you are so inclined.  Lions are always looking for leaders and every one has a chance to shine.

Each state has several districts and each district has their own convention. And of course the state has an annual convention and then Lions Clubs International has one as well.

The first Lions Club Convention was held in Chicago in 1917 and the 100th will again be held in Chicago in 2017.  It will be a blast and we would love to see you  there!
